Web Site Features

I’ve installed and set up a Calendar, check it out using the Calendar menu link above.

In addition, I set up Buddypress, a social networking tool that “plugs” into WordPress (which is what this site is built on).  You’ll find Buddypress is in the grey menu bar at the top of the CCNM site.  The following summarizes its features:

  • Global, personal and group activity streams with threaded commenting, direct posting, favoriting and @mentions.
  • Fully editable profile fields allow you to define the fields users can fill in to describe themselves.
  • Let your users make connections so they can track the activity of others.
  • Private messaging will allow your users to talk to each other directly, and in private.
  • Start a blog built on the best blogging software in the world.
  • Powerful public, private or hidden groups allow your users to break the discussion down into specific topics.
  • Full powered discussion forums built directly into groups allow for more conventional in-depth conversations.

I’m still trying to learn Buddypress myself and will “flesh” out its features as time goes on.  In the meantime, you can check it out yourselves by going to http://buddypress.org/

Over time, I’ll work on the Gallery some more to allow people to upload and comment on each others photos.

In the meantime, you can use the Forum (above) to express your thoughts, opinions, and pictures.  Be sure to keep it clean as we have members of all ages (plus the fact we’ll be monitoring it).

Thank you.
